Meet SpineTrak

SpineTrak is the first study to incorporate the Apple Watch to track activity levels and mobilization before and after spine surgery. To do this, we have created a secure app that combines the objective data obtained from the Apple Watch with your response to quality of life surveys to track your progress and give you encouragement to keep moving and recovering after spine surgery.

We can revolutionize patient care together.

The study is simple.

If you are undergoing spine surgery at Stanford and own an iPhone, please ask your surgeon about participating in the study. Our research team will provide you with an Apple Watch and install our app on your phone.

All you have to do:

– Wear the Apple Watch for at least 10 hours every day, for 2-6 weeks before surgery and 1 year after surgery.

– Attend your regularly scheduled post-operative visits with your spine surgeon.

– Complete the quality of life surveys a total of 5 times.

– Continue walking, moving, and recovering from spine surgery!

Your privacy is our top concern.

To protect your information, we have:

  • Created a HIPPA compliant application that meets Stanford School of Medicine high security standards.
  • Obtained authorization from our Stanford IRB.
